Construction of a Buddhist Monastery in Buryatia, Russia

In Ulan-Ude city, Buryatiya region, Russia, 100 km from lake Baikal, with a blessing of HH the XIV Dalai Lama, a Buddhistmonastic complex is being built. All interested members of the community will have the opportunity to study at this monastery.

Eshe Lodoy is Tulku, recognized at the age of 3 as reincarnate Elo Rinpoche, is the founder and spiritual head of this monastery. Elo Rinpoche is a Buddhist monk, honoer Tibetan lama, geshe-lharamba (doctor of philosophy), who worked in Dharamsala at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives as head of the Dept. of Eastern Mansuscripts.

Elo Rinpoche has generously bestowed numerous Buddhist teachings and empowerments in Russia where he has been living since 1993.

Construction of the conventual complex began in 2000. The monastery is being built with financial assistance from Elo Rinpoche, not wealthy donors. The base and some auxiliary structures are made have been built since 2000. Approximately 300,000 USD is needed to complete the project and we hope to finish construction with the help of wise, noble, and educated people.
