JJI Exile Brothers

As all other Tibetans here in exile, we are suffering and we need our freedom. Now, freedom is a relative term and although we are much more free here than our brothers and sisters with-in Tibet, due to the rules of being a refugee in such an incredibly poor country like India, we are not afforded the opportunities that most take for granted in the western world. To be as clear as we possibly can, we feel it necessary to say that it isn't our personal needs that we are pushing ourselves everyday to overcome. It's our music that comes before us and our personal needs. The way we see it, if our music could somehow gain attention to the situation of Tibet and it's people inside and outside of Tibet, it would be beneficial to all Tibetans. However, the only real way for us to get the word out to the people of the world is for us to perform in front of audiences in the west. We have done concerts here in Dharamsala a number of times and the people of Dharamsala have supported us 100% and seem to feel what we are, along with who we are. The problem is that these fellow refugees are just as helpless as us when it comes to resources and aside from identifying with us they are in no position to help us move to the next level.

What we need is an opportunity to come to the west, preferably America, considering it's political stature, growing number of Tibetan supporters and of course english being our second language, it makes America the right choice for us. Further more, most of our music is english based and heavily influenced by our exposure to American music. Westerners are always joking that Jam Yang must be the reincarnate of Jim Morrison and although of course he isn't, its an indicator of our being influenced by American music.

We have worked hard and for a long time, most of our lives, under these terrible conditions along with the pressures of being a modern Tibetan band. All we are hoping for is an opportunity to perform our music to the people of the west. Allowing the people an opportunity to feel our pain our frustrations along with our heritage, culture and beliefs that have been firmly instilled within us via our religion and of course HH The Dalai Lama.

What it all comes down to is that we need support in order to reach our goal. As all Tibetans our goal is to get back our motherland and regain our birth right, a FREE TIBET. If we were able to somehow be in a position where we could potentially bring more awareness to the Tibetan situation, it would bring us that much closer to our goal.

If you know of an organization that would be willing to co-sponsor our tour and/or hire us to play, please contact us as soon as possible. Also, visit our website at http://jjiexilebrothers.com.
