The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Lam Rim Chen Mo), Tsong-kha-pa's masterpiece on the stages of spiritual evolution. It will be the most extensive teaching of this text that His Holiness has presented in North America.

His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, the spiritual leader of the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, will be making an historic visit to the United States, May 15-June 2, 2008. This will be his first visit to North America during which he will give public talks and will visit Buddhist centers.

Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies Offering Summer Retreats
Namgyal Monastery, The Dalai Lama's seat on the North American continent, is offering its 17th Annual Summer Retreats. Retreat topics include meditation and core practices, initiation, and instruction in spiritual teachings. Summer session classes offer a wide range of topics, such as Tibetan language classes, Buddhism and Science topics, sacred art drawing and painting, and Tibetan culture.

Hispanic Tibetan Astrology and Medicine
Website Launched
The first Spanish website on Tibetan Astrology and Medicine is now available online. Maria Paz Leon, a member of the Kagyu Tekchen Choling center in Argentina, became involved with the site as part of a personal project reasearching the treasures of Tibetan Culture. Jhampa Kalsang, author of the book Tibetan Astro Science, is Ms. Leon's teacher and advisor. Ms. Leon calls the site "the first serious material on the subject in this language."

The Tibet Center
Opens New Location in Brooklyn, New York The Tibet Center has opened its new location: 25 Washington Street, Suite 304 Brooklyn, NY 11201 This center, one of the oldest of the Tibet centers in New York, offers classes on Buddhist philosophy and practice using classical Indian and Tibetan texts. It is under the direction of Khyongla Rato Rinpoche. Meditation and discussion groups are held for all who are interested.
