"Holding the Ancient Traditions"--Upcoming
2006 Western Buddhist Monastic Gathering

The 2006 Western Buddhist Monastic Gathering will be held at the Bhavana Society Forest Monastery in West Virginia, June 26 to 30 (Monday P.M. to Friday A.M.) The theme this year for the gathering will be "Holding the Ancient Traditions."

This conference is open to monastics from all Buddhist traditions and cultures that follow traditional vows, (which include observing celibacy), who are living in the US & Canada, but it is particularly relevant for monastics born and/or raised in the West.

The purpose of the gathering is to create ties of friendship amongst Sangha members who are often living on their own or in communities where they are isolated either by ordination or by culture. During these gatherings, participants learn from each other and have a relaxing time-out from their familiar routines in a supportive monastic environment.

All of the services at the Bhavana Society are always offered on a dana basis. If you would like to offer support you are welcome to do so.
