LARGE GOLD GAU (Locket) with Coral and Turquoise

This is truly a collector's piece--our staff had never before seen a gau of this quality and beauty except in museums--suitable for holding the most precious of objects. Made of silver, plated with 24-carat gold, this large gau is breathtaking. Mounted high in the center is a double dorje of coral and gold. Surrounding it are the eight auspicious symbols, each created of coral, turquoise, and goldwork. The back of the gau has a solar motif surrounded by lotus leaves, each with a piece of turquoise. The intricate metalwork forms a mountain motif around the sides. We were assured that the coral used in this jewelry is from ancient seas, mined in the mountains, and no coastal coral reefs were harmed. Spectacular. 3.5" total diameter, 1 3/16" high.
