MANJUSHRI STATUEThese Manjushri statues are painted with gold on the face and other body accents, in gold highlights; 8". (Tibetan: Jampelyang) Manjushri is the embodiment of the enlightened wisdom of all the buddhas realizing the ultimate nature of reality. He is often depicted holding the stem of a lotus flower in his left hand, which supports the 'Perfection of Wisdom Sutra', an important Mahayana text which reveals the methods for developing and realizing wisdom, and a flaming double-edged sword symbolizing the power of wisdom to cut through ignorance and obscurations, the root of all suffering, in his right hand. The Perfection of Wisdom sutra he holds represents his penetrating insight of the highest order. | |
