In the Third Turning of the Wheel of Dharma, Buddha taught the Shentong view that emptiness is not merely empty, but rather is endowed with the essence of wisdom. This is Buddhanature. In this teaching, Thrangu Rinpoche emphasizes the importance of cultivating certainty in both the Rantong (self-empty) and Shentong (other-empty) views as a necessary foundation for practicing the deity practices of the creation stage of secret mantra as well as the completion practices of Mahamudra and Dzogchen. Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen's Mountain Doctrine teaches the view (Buddhanature). This is what is most needed in order to engage in practices to realize the nature of mind. Dolpopa presents the nature of the ground, how to practice the path and what result is attained through practice. Dolpopa teaches the view through inference rather than through direct experience. Rather than presenting practice instructions, Dolpopa tells us how to take inference as the path. In these DVDs Thrangu Rinpoche presents detailed teachings and commentary on Dolpopa's Mountain Doctrine. Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche is a renowned Tibetan Buddhist master known for his deep compassion and the clarity of his teachings. He was selected by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to serve as the principal tutor to His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje. Thrangu Rinpoche is a full holder and teacher of the Kagyu Vajrayana lineages. He founded the Namo Buddha retreat center in Nepal, has established two shedras (monastic universities) in Nepal and India, and serves as Abbot of Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia. He built Tara Abbey, where nuns receive a full dharma education qualifying them to become khenpos or teachers. Thrangu Rinpoche teaches extensively throughout Asia, Europe and the United States. In the U.S., he has centers in Maine and California, and a Retreat Center in Crestone, Colorado.
