Samantabhadra--meaning 'the ever perfect'--is the primordial Adi Buddha of the Nyingma or 'ancient school' of Tibetan Buddhism, who manifests in his deep-blue naked dharmakaya form to reveal the highest tantric transmissions and the luminous or apparitional aspect of the dharmakaya, and his consort represents the absolute emptiness of the dharmakaya. Their embrace symbolises the simultaneous union of pure appearance and emptiness.
