THE IMPORTANCE OF PATIENCE: Commentaries on Shantideva's Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, Chapter Six, "Patience"

by the His Holiness, Tenzin Gyatso the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet

On this program, the Dalai Lama, the spiritual and temporal leader of Tibet, speaks lucidly and candidly about the ability of each of us to transform the world by transforming our own mind. With examples from his own experience, both as a religious and a political leader, His Holiness offers recommendations on how to transform anger through patience in our daily lives.

Throughout his life, the Dalai Lama has been an inspiration for millions of people around the world. In 1989, he received the Nobel Price for Peace. He has been recognized by dozens of institutions worldwide for his contributions to peace and understanding between religions, cultures, and peoples.

This recording was made during a four-day teaching in Tucson, Arizona that involved extensive commentaries on the Patience chapter of Shantideva's Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life. In addition to this audiotape version, this teaching was published in book form under the title, Healing Anger(Snow Lion Publications). It also served as part of the source material for The Art of Happiness, by the Dalai Lama and Howard C. Cutler, M.D. In addition, it is available in a video version through Mystic Fire Video of New York.

An outstanding teaching on the practice of patience--it is a detailed commentary on Shantideva's classic A Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life. This is an excellent teaching in which to immerse oneself.
